The Visual Protection Sheet (VPS) has been designed in conjunction with Station Commander Ian Cox of Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service who also heads up the services extrication teams.

The VPS is a brand new concept in soft protection and is simply a square sheet which has a clear window in the centre. The sheet covers the casualty and the medical professional during extrication, allowing them both to keep constant visual contact with the extrication team leader throughout the complete rescue process.

The VPS is machine washsable up to 5 times depending on the level of contaminant involved. If the VPS is contaminated beyond use, simply dispose of in the normal manner.
